Continuing from Central Austin’s north most edge at FM 2222, the North Central region occupies the corridor between I-35 on the east and Mopac on the west, running all the way up to RM 620 as its topmost boundary. Easy commuting access to IBM, Apple and other major employers make this a popular area to live for many people.
With such a large area come a large variety of neighborhoods and communities. The southern half of North Central includes older suburban areas, with a medley of cute, cozy bungalow, contemporary and ranch style homes from the 1950’s and 1960’s. Restaurants, retail shopping and services are plentiful, with a West Anderson Lane and Burnet Road being two of the most frequented retail corridors in Austin.
As one travels further north, the average age of homes get younger, with many homes built from the mid-80’s to the 2000’s. Brand new home subdivisions are also available for the homebuyer looking to live in a community with modern amenities including styles that range from contemporary to modern farmhouse styles.
Along with shopping and restaurants along the Metric and Parmer corridors, North Central is Home to the Domain, a high density, mixed-use, retail and residential center that is a very popular gathering location for many Austinites for its multitude of offerings of high and mainstream shopping and a wide choice of bars and eateries to match just about anyone’s tastes.
