Generally a more affordable area of town, Southeast Austin is still undergoing real estate development and still has a long way to grow. Older home communities begin on the east side of I-35 (and south of the Colorado River) and get progressively newer as the region stretches eastward until reaching just past Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
It is here, in the southeast, where home developers have room to spread out and as a result, there is a blossoming of new build single family (and attached!) communities replete with amenities such energy efficient construction, tankless water heaters, maintained landscapes, green spaces and plenty of walking pathways.
It’s not all new homes, however. Closer into the city is an older area of town where neighborhoods are built on softly rolling hillocks along winding tree-lined roads, offering a mix of serene privacy and pleasurable views. Home types vary; bungalows fill in the smaller areas between larger modern contemporary, ranch, shed and split level homes. Regular shopping activities are easy in this area of town, with many strip malls and grocery stores within quick driving distance.
