Bobby Bones Weight Loss Challenge

GOAL: I will lose 55lbs in this 6 week challenge

Here it is in a nut shell! At the beginning of January I decided that I needed to get serious about working out and getting in shape again.  Back in 2003-2004 I was working out hard and dropping lbs left and right.  I have always been a bigger guy, but I had gotten up to 400lbs in college.  Over the span of a few years, I eventually dropped down to around 300lbs and kept it off for a while.  I was in a relationship for a long time, and I think that I got too comfortable with the one I was with.  Over the 6 years we were together, I gradually put the weight back on and wasn’t really motivated by much to drop it.  This past year the relationship ended and I still wasn’t very motivated to lose the weight.  For some reason, this December, I decided that I did want to be a better person regarding work, play, life, everything.  I decided that I was going to dedicate myself completely to get my life back in order.

My weight was a major factor in that decision to be better.  A few weeks ago, I decided to fully commit myself to becoming a better me and needed a jump start.  I decided that I was going to eat right, cut out alcohol and sodas and get in a good routine until SXSW (March 9th).  I know that it’s not a long time, but I wanted to just shock my system to get started.  I had worked out a lot during the summer but had slacked off after a trip to Europe and I just wanted to feel healthier and commit to a goal.  I don’t plan on going back to lazy and eating poorly, but I am going to try to enjoy a good balance in life.

As fortune might have it, I was helping some good friends move back to Austin on the 14th of January and I heard about a weight loss challenge for the Bobby Bones Show and Healthé Trim.  I signed up thinking that if I got the opportunity to compete, that would be great…if I didn’t, I was still going to step up my workouts and healthy eating. I was picked for the competition as an alternate and was allowed to compete.

My goal is to lose 55lbs over the next 6 weeks, and I will update my blog with photos and videos as much as I can. If I can help someone make the decision to get healthy or to start working out, even better. Tune in to 96.7 KISS FM in Austin every Monday morning to hear my progress.

Food is Fuel. That’s how I’ve had to start thinking about this process. I must say that I feel bad that I didn’t get my blog updated this morning like I had hoped.  I’m going to try to update it twice a day so that if you want to see what I did at night, you can just come back that evening! Forty Days left in this challenge for me.  Significance?  Well, 40 has significance in most major religion, sports, handguns, popular expressions like, “the back 40,” “life begins at 40,” “40 winks,”  and so on.  To me, it marks the 3rd day of this competition to lose 55lbs in 42 days. Yesterday was my first day of the Bobby Bones Show / Healthé Trim Weight Loss Challenge. I have received a lot of support from friends, Thank You! Today was my first day for the Bobby Bones weight loss challenge.
