This morning I will be taking on Mt. Bonnell again. I’ve done this before and it is exhausting! The other day I mentioned to a friend that I was going to go up and down the steps 7-10 times on Saturday morning. He looked at me and said “10, NOT 7-10, do it 10 times”. So, I’ll do it 10 times.
I also asked what people wanted to know about me in order to give me more material to write about and hopefully make this blog more enjoyable to read. A friend of mine, offered the following in response to my question and I appreciate the help. What are your strengths/favs (example: bench press/circuit trng/running) and then ….Weaknesses/you can’t stand to do? With food and workout.. What have you learned this week? Any surprises?
My strengths: Well, I actually like most exercises that take place in a gym. I really enjoy lifting and pushing myself to get stronger, but it’s a tough balance because I don’t want to get too strong and too big, because there simply isn’t a reason for me to. I really like circuit training, just not while I’m doing it. I love the feeling of accomplishment after I get through. I like running shuttles or sprints, but more than a basketball court length is more than I care to do anymore. I’m really excited because I think I’m going to go back to the boxing gym next week and get that exercise in for my a.m. workouts. I used to enjoy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but my friend, who is a great instructor, moved to Florida.
My Weaknesses: Though there are plenty of weaknesses, I can’t think of anything that I just can’t stand to do. I know that the workouts I’m weakest in, or the ones I hate to do, will actually make me better just by doing them. I guess my biggest weakness is not pushing myself. That’s why this opportunity is important to me because it gives me something to strive for.
Things learned this week: 1) ”Love Song,” by Selena Gomez is a great workout song! 2) Music plays a big part in the pace and intensity of my workouts. 3) Keeping up with all the cooking and healthy eating is difficult to do when you are out and about. You really need to plan ahead.
Surprises: This week I was surprised by my motivation and the fact that I had the energy to endure all of the workouts and still pop out of bed in the morning.
Meals
Breakfast: Protein Shake
Snack: 5 egg whites and half a piece of bread…the dense kind.
Lunch: I found myself out in Marble Falls without food, so I stopped in to Peete’s Mesquite and got some smoked turkey breast slices.
Snack: I had a pre-cooked chicken breast from Randall’s.
Dinner: Half a salad and the other pre-cooked chicken breast…it was a two pack!
Snack: I finished the salad and it was awesome! I was hungry.
Side Story: If you ever find yourself out in Marble Falls at Peete’s Mesquite, they only take cash. I only remembered this when I was next in line and I only had $6 in my wallet. Rather than leave or pulse out any money, I asked the lady cutting and weighing the meat to only give me 4/10ths of a pound of turkey. I realize that I could have broken down the fraction further, but for simplicity’s sake, I said 4/10ths. Our conversation went as follows:
Me: Could you pleas give me 4/10ths of a pound of turkey?
Cutter: I’m sorry, how much?
Me: 4/10ths of a pound.
Cutter: I don’t know what that is?
Me: A little less than half a pound.
Cutter: Oh, well, that’s all I know it by. Quarter, half, pound. I know what I know.
Me: Gotcha, well, I was just trying to keep my total cost under $6 rather than using the ATM.
Cutter: Oh, OK.
I guess you had to be there!
Workout
I think I’m only going to work out once today since I’ll be moving. That’s kind of a workout.
A.M. – Mt Bonnell – 10 times up the stairs. – I did it.
P.M. Workout – Unpacking boxes and arranging the house.

About Stephen Smith
I grew up in Georgetown, TX, just a stones throw away from Austin. I moved to Austin to attend UT and entered the real estate world as an intern in Horseshoe Bay in 2003. As I was performing different tasks around the office and for the agents, I quickly realized that I wanted to be an agent. Within a year of becoming licensed, I was managing the office, updating agents on the happenings in the real estate world and listing and selling homes! In 2006 I decided to buy a condo and move back to the great city of Austin where I was to continue working in real estate. Having worked for several top 25 companies in the area, I learned from many talented agents and decided it was time to get my Broker’s license and start my own company. As fortune may have it, I was college friends with Ed’s wife and we realized that we were very good at different parts of this business and that we complimented each other nicely. From this, a partnership was born. My goal is to bring honesty and logic to my clients during their home buying and selling process! When I am not helping a client or looking for smart, ethical agents to join our team, I enjoy serving the Austin Board of Realtors, being on the lake and networking! Most of the time, I like to combine at least 2 out of the previous 3!
