38 Days Left – Food is Fuel

38 Days Left – Food is Fuel

Jan 27, 2012

Food is Fuel. That’s how I’ve had to start thinking about this process. Yesterday I had lunch with a group of people, and although the “trailer food” that they had looked and smelled great, I sat there and enjoyed my chicken and salad. My body only needs certain things to get me to where I want to be, and I’ve made my mind up to simply think of food as fuel for my body.

Typically, we find ourselves making events out of eating; a happy hour with half priced appetizers and alcohol, a dinner date with friends or a date, brunch, family BBQ’s, etc. I’m not saying that I won’t enjoy my share of these events after I reach my goal, but I don’t want to gain and lose weight constantly, so there’s got to be a change in mindset. I honestly think that I will keep using the Healthé Trim after this competition because it gives me energy I need, plus it definitely suppresses my appetite. This will allow me to eat things that I enjoy, just in smaller portions.

I’m excited to get to where I want to be with my weight, and I’m excited to have some brisket!

Today’s Thoughts

1) One of the things I’ve noticed in the gym when I’m working out on a treadmill or an elliptical is that the only people that will come get on the machine right next to me are guys. Last night, for example, two girls came in the gym to work out. There were three machines to the right of me and two that were down the way from me mixed up in a crowd of people. The girls walked past the three available machines to go work out in the crowd. I wonder if it’s because I’m a big sweaty guy working out, or if they simply liked working out in crowds of people? Not that it really matters because I hate working out next to someone on the machines because it seems really crowded.

2) Last night in my video, I mentioned that I want to do a blog about people who annoy me at the gym.  Apparently it’s already been done.  7 Jerks You Meet in Every Gym  But I will say, there are two that really bother me that weren’t included.  1) The Flexes in the mirror guy: When I’m sweating and panting on the treadmill and I look out hoping to see something that will take my mind off the pain I’m in, I don’t want to see this guy.  He is doing his workout, but between sets, he’ll walk over to the water fountain and flex in every mirror on the way there and back.  Just go buy a mirror at home and do it there like everyone else!  2) The Social hour on the machine I want to Use person: Usually I’m on a pretty tight time frame to get in and out of the gym.  I have certain machines that I like to use and, on occasion, the machine that I’m ready to use next is occupied.  I typically move on to the next machine while keeping an eye out for when the other person leaves the machine I want.  Sometimes it ends up being that person who knows everyone in the gym and will stand in front of a loaded machine/bench/rack and talk.  Not just a quick hello, usually it’s a drawn out conversation about who knows what!  If you aren’t working out, at least move away from the machine so I can utilize it and go on my way.

3) I realized today that I really only have about 4 shirts that I wear to work out in. I need to probably do something about that or I’m going to be doing a lot of laundry! I have more t-shirts, but some of them are shorter than they should after years of shrinking in the wash, and I don’t want to be the big guy at the gym with my gut hanging out from under my shirt! Ha!

Workout

A.M. Workout : Today was another 45 minutes on the elliptical machine and then some bear crawls and up downs.

P.M. Workout: I moved a lot of the day, so I did not end up doing a second workout today.  Hopefully that doesn’t hurt my progress too badly.
